DIRECTOR, PROJECT FINANCE

Founded by an MIT faculty member and alumnus, we offer 24×7 emissions-free solar power
using, primarily, concentrated solar energy (CSP). We exist to provide exceptional, reliable,
around the clock, zero-carbon energy in the fight against climate change and for a better future.

The Situation
247Solar sells the energy from its systems on a PPA basis to its customers, which requires no
capital outlay by them. The demand for 247Solar’s Solutions is growing fast, and we need an
experienced Director of Project Finance to secure the capital needed to build,
own, and operate 247Solar’s systems.
The Position
247Solar Inc. is seeking to hire a seasoned project finance professional who combines elements
of project finance and fundraising to secure capital for renewable energy projects that serve a
variety of applications including mining, C&I, data centers and green hydrogen. This role
requires a unique blend of project finance expertise and fundraising skills to successfully secure
capital for complex, renewable energy projects. This position reports to the CFO.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise debt and equity as needed to finance the construction of multiple clean energy
projects throughout the world is sizes ranging from $25 million up to $500 million. - Develop and implement fundraising plans to accomplish this, including identifying
potential investors and funding sources, strategically targeting them, preparing support
documents, and facilitating closings. - Create and maintain financial models to assess project viability, support decision-making,
and convincing investors to invest. - Prepare detailed Project Information Memorandums (PIMs) outlining project details, key
contractual elements, and financial projections. - Organize and manage funding processes, evaluating responses from potential funders.Conduct due diligence, negotiate term sheets, and manage documentation for project financing.
- Collaborate with project managers, banks, and financial institutions to arrange funding and syndication.
- Establish and manage special purpose vehicles (SPVs) required for projects:
- Monitor project costs, identify budget variances, and conduct financial reviews of project performance.
- Prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders, including cost-benefit analyses and risk assessments.
- Ensure transactions are as tax efficient as possible utilizing tax equity structures where applicable.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong background in finance, typically with a degree in Finance, Accounting, or MBA
- 10+ years of relevant experience in banking or the financial services industry, including experience in Project Finance with over $100M in capital raised over multiple projects throughout the world.
- Extensive knowledge of project finance structures, documentation, and fundraising techniques.
- Established relationships with project finance sources throughout the world, especially in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The sources should include equity investors, debt financers, development banks, sovereign funds, and other bilateral institutions. The relationship with such sources will be such that they will return phone calls and emails.
- International project finance experience
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to create and interpret complex financial models.
- Strong communication skills to articulate project details and financial projections to potential investors
- Experience in managing relationships with diverse stakeholders, including investors, banks, and project teams.
- Proficiency in financial forecasting and risk assessment specific to renewable energy projects.
- Understanding of non-recourse or limited recourse financing structures common in project finance.
- Ability to work in a results-oriented, project-driven, real-time team environment. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deliver quality results within tight time constraints
- Strong commercial skills required, including ability to recognize primary value and risk drivers within transactions, and negotiate responsive commercial and financial arrangements that maximize value to the company while ensuring appropriate risk exposure
- Ability to cultivate and maintain a strong network of professional relationships across the industry
- Ability to work autonomously and within a small team to achieve large results.

- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word and Excel).
- Availability for occasional work outside normal business hours.
- Availability for travel when required.
Additional Responsibilities
- Develop benchmarks to guide projections and assess project performance.
- Work with executive teams to refine pitch decks and prepare for investor meetings.
- Stay updated on current fundraising practices and market trends in project finance.
- Collaborate with legal teams to ensure compliance with financial regulations and contractual obligations.

Working at 247Solar
The chosen candidate can work from anywhere. Salary will be commensurate with local salary ranges for comparable positions. As a senior team member of an early-stage company, the salary portion of compensation may not meet large-company levels. However, the base salary is competitive, and the Director, Project Finance Development will be rewarded on the basis of the company’s future success and increased value in the form of a stock option plan.
