247Solar VP Named President of MIT Alumni Association

Natalie Lorenz Anderson begins one-year term

Great Falls, Virginia, USA, — 247Solar is pleased to announce that VP, COO and board member Natalie Lorenz Anderson has commenced a one-year term as president of the MIT Alumni Association (MITAA), effective July 1, 2024.

Natalie graduated from MIT in 1984 with  a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, and has been involved in a variety of roles in MIT life ever since.  These include leadership positions with the MITAA board, the Alumni Association Selection Committee, and the Annual Giving Leadership Circle. At the club level, Natalie served as director of the MIT Club of Washington, DC,  and for her class served as president, vice president, treasurer, class agent, and reunion committee/gift committee member. Natalie has been honored with both the Harold E. Lobdell ’17 Distinguished Service Award and the Henry B. Kane ’24 Award, and she is currently a member of the Corporation Nominating Committee, the Corporation Development Committee, and the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society Visiting Committee.

In an interview for the MIT Technology Review, Natalie said, “I’m excited about the direction that the MITAA programming has been taking in the last few years … It’s important to me that we continue to ensure that we’re meeting the goals to deliver enriching content and benefits to the MITAA community. I also feel strongly about broadening our reach and strengthening our ties with each other and the Institute.”

Stellar career

Prior to taking on her senior management role with 247Solar, Natalie enjoyed a 33-year career with Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., including from 2002 to 2017 as a Senior Vice President and Partner, leading business operations in the functional areas of Cybersecurity, Privacy, Risk Management, IT, Health, Environment, and Energy programs.

With a BSEE from MIT and an MSEE from Johns Hopkins University, she started her career as an entry level engineer and worked her way to Partner election in 2002, optimizing business operations and costs, leading teams, developing future leaders, winning new business, and solving technical and strategic issues for her clients.

An experienced board director, Natalie served as an Independent Director on the Board of Ocean Power Technologies (NYSE:OPTT) and is a member of the Board’s Environment and Sustainability Committee. She has served as a Director on the Boards of MIT Technology start-ups Embr Labs and 247Solar Inc., providing expertise in market and organizational strategy, workforce development, government contracting, ESG, and cyber & privacy. Natalie has also served as an advisor to Lutron’s Cyber Advisory Group. She served as a product strategy and market advisor for 5 years to MIT technology start-up, Gigavation Inc., which was subsequently acquired in 2020 by NetScout.

At 247Solar, Natalie works with the CEO building the company and addressing strategic issues, including cybersecurity, logistics, HR, workforce development, and fundraising as the company commercializes its Concentrated Solar Power and Thermal Storage technologies for clean electricity and heat, and prepares for construction of its first commercial 247Solar Plant in 2024.
